I was the webmaster of this site from late 2006 until May of this year (2011). In that time I had seen 2 completely different and completely awful proprietary content management systems.
It wasn’t until early this year (2011) that I was given permission to go ahead and try something of my own. So I took WordPress and made it work with a giant company’s massive website. And believe it or not, it worked! The big areas I had to face were the physician directory and the locations directory. Both were made to work using custom post types (thank you 3.0) and a decent CSV import plugin.
